resolutions

Happy new year and whatnot. As you guys know I'm a flop show and therefore there will be no 2011 Year in Review-type posts that everyone in the blogosphere is doing. That requires an amount of discipline that would contradict everything that you guys know about me. Besides which, you guys were here and you already know what happened.

But! It’s a new year and we’re going to do better in 2012. I have only one goal for max-logic in 2012 and that is for it to be the place that we all come to every day to get something. Whether it’s advice or a laugh or a new way of thinking or a boner,  I want the time we spend on on this site to be worth the keystrokes it took to get here. And yes I say we and not I because max-logic is a communal effort – it takes all of us to make it great.

So today we’re resolving together to make 2012 a better year. And to make that happen, these are our promises to each other:

I will show up

My attendance around here has been a bit spotty and for that I apologize. Lots of life changes + very little discipline = many days of no posts. But I know consistency is the key to a happy blog and so the goal is no missed posts without warning.

And so will you guys

Not all bloggers realize this (#shotsfired) but I know that a blog is nothing without its readers and commenters. So I hope you guys will keep coming back.

I will give you what you want

Although it may seem like there is little rhyme or reason to what I post, I do try to strike a balance between posts about advice, “real life”, friendship, dating, relationships, and sex without skewing wildly in any one direction. But that’s not necessarily the right way to do it. If the max-logic family wants all sex and relationships and no life or friendship, who says we have to be balanced? Fuck balance! So I resolve to let you guys have a say in what we talk about around here.

…if you let me know what it is

Of course, in order for me to give you what you want, you gotta tell me what you want. So if you’re tired of advice posts, you gotta let me know. If you want more Nasty Friday you’re shit out of luck let me know that too.

I will provoke you

There are plenty of other sites in the world that say all the right things. At max-logic, my goal is to give you the unpopular opinion that we’re not supposed to speak out loud. My goal is for max-logic to the safe place for all your mean, nasty, and ignorant thoughts.

And you will respond

Even though I’m quite certain I’m always right, there is a slight possibility that I am sometimes a little bit wrong-ish. I count on you dear readers to keep me in check and let me know when I’ve crossed the line. Don’t be afraid to say “max um, you’re full of shit”. Chances are I already know it, I’m just waiting to see if anyone else will notice.

I won’t phone it in

I get lazy sometimes, I admit it. Sometimes I just pull something out of my ass and slap it up here and keep it moving. And since you guys are the most discerning readers in the blogosphere, I know you know when I’m doing it. The comments on here get quiet as all the fucks when I post out my ass. Which I resolve not to do in 2012.

And you guys will comment

Conversely, there are times when I try my very best to write the best post possible. Times when I let an idea marinate for days til it’s literally bursting with insightful flavour. When I will spend twenty minutes trying to perfect a 7-word sentence and search Google images for hours trying to find just the right post picture. There are mornings that I wake up and the first thing I do is check this site to see what you guys have said while I was sleeping, only to find the two most hateful words in the history of the English language: “no comments”.  But I know you guys won’t do me like that in 2012 right? I write the posts, you guys comment. Quid pro quo and shit.

But what do you guys think of “our” 2012 max logic resolutions? Who’s with me? Speak your piece in the comments.

I second these resolutions. Simple enough to achieve, as well as the amount of effort to make them happen.

  • I’ve only just discovered your website but it sounds good to me. I’m building my own website and yours is giving me ideas!(Thanks for that).

Max is back!!! Missed you during the break. I can only agree to one comment a week. (I’m a realist.) Sounds like this year is going to be amazing in the world of Max Logic. I’m excited to be a part of it. I have an idea for you to write about when I remember it I will email it to you. Happy New Year!!

      Yay commenting!
And I totally forgot to promise you guys that if you comment, I will respond. I’m adding that to my list of resolutions.

I try not to lurk too often because I know it has to be hard to be a blogger. Coming up with 340 days worth of things to talk about(I’ll give you vacay time) has to be mindracking at times. Find guest bloggers, do the interviews, or just say whoops not today readers. I check in everyday and if it’s not new then I move on and come back the next day. No bigger. I’m not throwing rocks at you. I have a life and expect you to have one too. Writing this blog should not be a stressful thing. Your blog should be the place where you bust a literary nut.

I like how I can visit anytime during the day and comments are in the double digits. I wish you all the best in 2012 and I hope you find a happy medium between your comments goal and the eleventy-hundred posts on VSB.
